VISIT OF FIRE CHIEF.

SUPERINTENDENT RIDDELL. APPRECIATION OF PAEROA. Superintendent Riddell, officer commanding the Napier Fire Brigade, an officer of long and distinguished service, returned to his home, leaving Paeroa by train on Saturday evening after spending some few days here. During his stay in Paeroa the superintendent was entertained by Superintendent Moore and Secretary Malcolm, of the local brigade. He was motored to the beauty spots round the gorges and the old coach roads that surround Karangahake, and was on Thursday, in company with Superintendent Moore, motored to Thames by the secretary, where Superintendent Garrett was met and conferred with. The three veteran superintendents had much to discuss, as they are old friends in the Dominion Fire Service. The superintendent, who is keenly interested in the development of fire prevention education, is recommending its adoption in various institutions at Napier, and expresses the hope that the authorities will in the near future accept and put into force the course urged by the Fire Service of New Zealand.
