DRAINAGE ELECTION.

PLAINS WEST TRUSTEES. OLD MEMBERS RETURNED. Compared with the first election last year little interest was taken in the election on Monday last of five trustees to form the Hauraki Plains West Drainage Board. The poll resulted in the old board being reelected. Details of the polling are as follows, the first five being elected Ngatea Pipiroa Total. J. Motion 73 31 104

There are 144 owners of land in the board’s district, and had every settler exercised his privilege and also voted for the full five allowed, about 1400 votes would have been cast; but the total number of votes as shown by the preliminary count was only 524.
