SEPTEMBER AVERAGES.

The following are the September averages of the N.Z. Co-operative Herd Testing Association for cows on the Hauraki Plains and Waihi :— Matatoki.—This season, 687 cows, 8281 b milk, 3.8 test, 31.721 b fat; last season, 620 cows, 7671 b milk, 4.1 test, 33.701 b fat. Highest herd, of 43 cows, averaged 43.111 b fat; highest cow 711 b fat and lowest cow 61b fat.

Ngatea.—This season, 295 cows, 9211 b milk, 3.6 test, 33.401 b fat; last season, 518 cows, 8961 b milk, 3.9 test, 35.711b'fat. Highest herd, of 43 cows, averaged 37.621 b fat; highest cow 771 b fat and lowest cow 91b fat.

Netherton. —This season, 560 cows, 7341 b milk, 3.9 test, 29.151 b fat; last season, 866 cows, 7331 b milk, 4'.1 test, 30.171 b fat. Highest herd, of 26 cows, averaged 41.921 b fat ; highest cow 641 b fat and lowest cow 71b fat.

Patetonga.—This season, 654 cows, 7381 b milk, 4.1 test, 30.381 b fat; last season, 531 cows, 7591 b milk, 4.2 test, 31.891 b fat. Highest herd, of 29 cows, averaged 43.201 b fat; highest cow 641 b fat and lowest cow 71b fat.

Shelly Beach.—This season, 110 cows, 89.11 b milk, 3.9 test, 35.461 b fat; last season, 203 cows, 8741 b milk, 4.3 test, 38.151 b fat. Highest herd, of 67 cows, averaged 36.231 b fat; highest cow 581 b fat and lowest cow 171 b fat. Turua.—This season, 344 cows, 9161 b milk, 3.9 test, 36.491 b fat; last season, 362 cows, 8121 b milk, 4.2 test, 34.321 b fat. Highest herd, of 43 cows, averaged 43.411 b fat; highest cow 671 b fat and lowest cow 111 b fat. Waitakarui-u. —This season, 156 cows, 8361 b milk, 3.9 test, fat; last season, 286 cows, 8961 b milk, 3.9 test, 35.171 b fat. Highest herd, of 51 cows, averaged 36.601 b fat; highest cow 691 b fat and lowest cow 41b fat. Waihi.—This season, 705 cows, 6341 b milk, 3.9 test, 24.931 b fat; last season, 649 cows, 6711 b milk, 4.0 test, 27.101 b fat. Highest herd, of 18 cows, averaged 35.661 b fat; highest cow 171 b fat and lowest cow 41b fat.

The average for 65,050 cows tested in September was 7691 b milk, 4.1 test, 31.681 b fat ; last year, for 54,140 cows tested in September, 7811 b milk, 4.1 test, 32.531 b fat.

The highest group average was that of Pukekohe, with 37.721 b fat, followed by Coromandel with 37.26. The highest herd average was returned by Pukekura Horahora with 53.881 b fat, and the highest eow average by Manawaru with 991 b.
