ANTI-TUBERCULOSIS
CHRISTMAS SEAL CAMPAIGN. 2D STAMP TO BE ISSUED. In a telegram received yesterday from the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, it is stated that the supplementary penny stamp for the Anti-Tuberculosis Christmas Seal Campaign will be superseded by a specially designed combined postage and charity two-penny stamp. One penny will be for postage and one penny for charity. The alteration in the first proposal has been made to comply with the international postal convention rules with reference to stamps used on letter faces. ' It was not found possible to produce for this year the particularly fine design most desired, although another year this may be adopted. The central figure of the design upon which engravers are busy is a New Zealand nurse in uniform, with a Maori border on either side. The words “Help to Stamp Out Tuberculosis,” will appear on the stamp as an indication of the purposes to which the proceeds will be devoted.
Designing and printing is being done in New Zealand, and it is expected stamps will be on sale at the end of November. Grateful Ex-Patient. A grateful ex-patient of the Pukeora Sanitarium, a young man now fully restored to health and industry, wrote recently to the Minister of Health enthusiastically endorsing the Anti-Tuberculosis Christmas Seal Campaign, and expressed pleasure in enclosing £25 for the purchase of 3000 of the special stamps.
