ALL HALLOWS EVE.

o CELEBRATION AT KEREPEEHI. ST. PAUL’S CHOIR SINGS. At the invitation of the Vicar of Hauraki Plains, the Rev. D. Madison, the vicar and choir of St. Paul’s, Paeroa, visited Kerepeehi last evening— All Hallows Eve—and sang Evensong in the church, which is dedicated in the name of All Saints. The service was full festal Evensong, including Processional and Recessional hymns, the prayers being intoned by the vicar and the Rev. W. G. Weadon. The hymns and psalms proper of the day were heartily joined in by the congregation, which comfortably filled the church.

The preacher was F. Allerton, vicar of St. Thomas’ Church, Auckland, who in an earnest, thoughtful, and convincing address drew the lessons of the day from his text, “We took sweet counsel together and walked in the House of God as friends,” pointing out that we should regard the Saints as friends, who were always ready to assist us by theii’ prayers, if we would only ask them to do so, and that we, too, should pray for them, that they might be advanced to greater, and still greater, service for their Master and King.”

After the service all those who had been present adjourned to the Public Hall, where a happy hour or two was spent in dancing and light-hearted recreation, and where the visitors were most hospitably entertained by the Kerepeehi congregation at a very enjoyable supper. The vicar thanked the St. Paul’s choir for having come over and rendered the musical portion of the service in a manner which had been greatly appreciated by the All Saints congregation. The Rev. W. G. Weadon suitably replied on behalf of the visitors, and after all had joined in the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem the return journey was made for home, all having spent a most happy and enjoyable evening.
