CAR IN PLAINS DRAIN.
DRIVER CUT BY GLASS
MACHINE MUCH DAMAGED.
Severe cuts to his wrists and forehead were sustained by Mr P. Faherty, of Waitakaruru, on Sunday afternoon, when his cat’ left the Pipiroa Road and fell into a deep roadside drain. Mr Faherty was taken to Turua, and in the absence of Dr. Miller his wounds were stitched up by Sister Sheridan.
The car, an Essex super six sedan, which had only done 1300 miles, was considerably damaged. The radiator, a mudguard, lamps, and glass windows were ruined, and the top is probably beyond repair. It appears that the car was being driven rapidly when a patch of deep beach shingle was encountered on a part of the road where there is a high cambre.
