MILITARY NOTES.
THE HAURAKI REGIMENT. CADET INSPECTION. At the conclusion of the Staff Officer’s (Captain G. Dittmer, M.C.) inspection of the local night platoon of cadets on Tuesday, 22nd inst., he complimented all present on their turnout, mentioning in particular the manner in which the n.c.o.’s carried out their work and controlled their squads. He was of the opinion that the local cadet n.c.o.’s were as good as any in the regimental district. District Rifle Meeting. Arrangements for the No. 2 Regimental District rifle meeting, whish is to take place at Waihi on November 8 and 9, are well under way. The number of entries so far received would indicate that the meeting will be well patronised. Entries received include boys from as far afield as Cambridge, Rotorua, and Tauranga.
A good deal of work is being done on the range to ensure that it will be in first-class condition for the meeting.
