THE LABOUR CAUSE.
MEETING AT KEREPEEHI.
MUCH ENTHUSIASM SHOWN.
Over forty people, including many ladies, attended the monthly meeting of the Kerepeehi branch of the N.Z. Labour Party last evening.
A welcome to the non-members present was extended by the chairman, Mr Anderson, who expressed the hope that they would join up with the branch. It was hoped that the membership would be increased to 100. An interesting paper on the economic position of our country as viewed from the position of a small dairy farmer was read by Mr H. A. Jamieson. This was discussed at length, and many aspects were elaborated upon.
The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks.
Mr W. Booth promised to read a paper in reply at a later meeting. An elaborate supper, which had been provided by the ladies, was then handed round.
For the next meeting Mr D. Hill promised to read a paper on “Why Socialism must Crime.”
Fighting Fund.
A suggestion from the committee that a voluntary contribution of Is a month be collected from members for the purpose of establishing a fighting fund was adopted.
The secretary reported that already quite a number of subscriptions had been received.
Visit to Ngatea.
The chairman reported that an invitation to attend the next monthly meeting had been received from the Ngatea branch, and it was proposed to accept it.
Several members signified their intention of being present, and it was suggested that a bus be engaged. The hope was expressed that the Ngatea branch would have an interesting subject for' discussion.
