PAEROA RACECOURSE.
' MANY IMPROVEMENTS. JOCKEY CLUB’S ACTIVITIES. Many decided improvements are being carried out at the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s racecourse, in keeping with that body’s policy of ' advancement. The lawn in front of the public and Stewards’ stands has been graded and levelled so as to afford a better view foi’ club patrons. New fences have been erected in front of the stands, and, should the weather be suitable, it is proposed to shortly lay down a number of flower-beds along them. A new and larger birdcage has been erected out of heavy wire-netting to replace the old fence, which has served its uses.
More ground has been graded and levelled up, so as to provide extra parking space for cars, and to add to the facility and speed of cars getting clear ofAhe grounds after a meeting, a new exit has been made on to Arney Street. The Paeroa Borough Council will have this roadway formed before the next race meeting. One set of loose-boxes has been moved to a more convenient place and more erected to provide additional accommodation.
The entire race-track has received the usual thorough attention, with the result that harrowing and top-dressing haVe brought it to perfect condition. The whole of these improvements are estimated to cost £l5OO.
