Hundreds of frogs invaded Te Aroha’s main streets on both Tuesday and Wednesday evening of last week (says the “News”), and could be seen hopping about the wet bitumen enjoying the drizzling rain. Motorists report that even out at Ruakaka the headlights picked out dozens of these little creatures as they hopped about, vainly trying to avoid being crushed. The fact that the frogs are protected in the Domain ponds, and that the winter has been an exceptionally mild one, is perhaps the reason of their being seen in such prolific numbers.
