WAIKINO SCHOOL.

BENEFIT CONCERT. A SPLENDID PROGRAMME. The fine evening attracted a full house to the Waikino Hall on Monday to enjoy the excellent concert presented by a combined party embracing well-known artists from Waihi, Waikino, and Paeroa. The made by Mrs J. W. Jones, were complete in every detail and the results, from both the programme and financial sides, were highly satisfactory. A diverting item, a comedy sketch, was staged by the Waihi Comedy Club and provoked much merriment. Novelty dances were daintily given by Misses Upton and Dobson. Mr Gough excelled in his violin solos, and earned his undoubted recalls. Musical items were rendered by Mesdames Lithgow, Jones, and Harvey Evans,, Misses Patterson and Shaw, and Messrs Frank G. Williams and Linton Eskrigge. Mr Williams’ rendering of “Hats off to the Stoker” was made particularly effective by a background representing a ship’s stokehold, with Mr Eskrigge as the stoker. Mr E. V. Slyfield .appeared in two dramatic recitals. The accompaniments were in the capable hands of Mrs Jones and Miss Shaw. Afterwards the whole company were entertained to a dainty and appetising supper.
