THE HALF-HOLIDAY.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Reverting again to the above matter, it is important to remark that the very large portion of the community who reside in the country around Paeroa, and for whom, geographically, this town is the natural business centre, are deeply interested in retaining that most convenient day—Saturday —as their popular shopping day. Satisfaction .is being expressed daily to the good service it supplies. The poll, restricted to the voters within the borough, has, in its result, perhaps unwittingly, conferred a sterling advantage upon the dwellers and workers of the outer area. Their goodwill is absolutely essential to Paeroa’s progress. No delights of a self-chosen half-holi-day will, it is hoped, be allowed to cloud the issue in the minds of sensible business men. Unity in observance is necessary to preserve the best interests of all. Let none propose to dispossess town and country residents alike of this hard-won benefit. ERNEST V. SLYFIELD.
