THE NGATEA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The Ngatea Cricket Club held its annual meeting on Thursday evening, Mr D. McAulay presiding over an attendance of fifteen members. Annual Report. The annual report showed that the past season had been a fairly successful one, the club having to play off with Kopuarahi in the final of the inter—club competition. The financial position was sound. The report recorded the loss through departure from the district of the club’s first president, Mr J. Terrill, and the appointment of Mr D. McAulay in his place. Election of Officers. Officers were elected as follows : — President, Mr D. McAulay; vicepresidents, Messrs W. Montgomery, G. Crockford, C. S. Foster, H. Dent, and E. L. Walton; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. Foster ; delegates to Hauraki Plains Association, Messrs R. Cornthwaite and N. Boyne; committee, Messrs J. Darlington, S. Phillips, R. Cornthwaite, N. Boyne, P. McCormick, W. O’Neil, and W. Chappell; selectors, Messrs S. Phillips and N. Boyne ; umpire, Mr D. McAulay. General. The subscription was fixed at 10s 6d, as in previous years. The past year’s officers were accorded votes of thanks for services rendered, and votes of thanks were accorded Mrs N. Boyne for the preparation of afternoon tea and Mr W. G. Hayward for the use of his field. It was decided to have a new pitch laid on the site of the old pitch. The delegates to the association were instructed to urge that the first round of the inter-club competition be played in two-day matches and the second round in one-day matches. The secretary was instructed to endeavour to arrange a practice match for Saturday, 19th inst. The matter of procuring a net for practice use was left to Mr Boyne.
THE KOPUARAHI CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The Kopuarahi Cricket Club held its annual general meeting on Friday evening, Mr Russell Green presiding over an attendance of fifteen members. The financial statement showed a small debit balance on the year’s working. The following officers were elected : President, Mr D. J. O’Carroll; ; secretary, Mr J. O’Carroll; selector, Mr J. G. Miller; club captain, Mr Russell Green; vice-captain, Mr E. Gill; groundsman, Mr T. O’Carroll; delegates to the Association, Messrs J. O’Carroll and E. Gill.; committee, Messrs E. Gill, H. Kerby, J. Miller, A. McMillan, and J. O’Carroll; auditor, Mr W. E. Hale ; scorer, Mr G. Miller ; umpire, Mr J. C. Miller. Votes of thanks for services rendered were accorded the past year s officers, particularly Mr J. G. Miller.
It was decided to open the season on Saturday, 19th inst., with a practice match against any team which could be persuaded to visit Kopuarahi.
The annual subscription fee was fixed at 10s.
Arrangements were made to celebrate the winning of the cup last season at a function on Saturday, 19th.. It was announced that the medals donated by Messrs J. G. Miller and T. H. A. McKay for the best batting and bowling averages during the past season had been won by Clive Laurence, who made 273 runs in'ls innings, and T. H. A. McKay, who took 16 wickets for 62 runs.
