CINNABAR AT MACKAYTOWN.
EXPERTS TO EXAMINE. Representatives of an Auckland syndicate, together with some mining experts, will arrive in Paeroa to-morrow to examine the cinnabar deposits and old workings at Mackaytown, with a view to deciding methods to adopt for the further testing of the deposits. Two assays have already been made by the Thames School of Mines, one returning 4 per.cent, and the other, consisting mainly of mud, U per cent. It' is understood that the intention of the syndicate is to employ foreign capital in the developemnt of the field. Local prospecters and business men have acquired the rights of the old Golden Giant claims, which nearly surround the cinnabar deposits to be inspected to-morrow, and there is every indication of deposits there also. Gold Quartz. The Thames School of Mines is making a trial crushing of gold quartz broken out from a claim at Karangahake.
