THE RAINFALL.
FIGURES FOR PAEROA. AVERAGE LOWER THAN IN 1928. Last month 2.55 inches of rainfall were recorded in Paeroa, being 2.54 inches less than in August, and 2.72 inches less than in July, of last year. The whole of the year so far has been drier with 39.36 inches than the corresponding period in 1928, when 49.70 inches were recorded. Rain last month fell on 14 days, with the 9th, showing 1.07 inches, the worst day. From the 11th to the 14th, inclusive, there was no rain. The wettest week was the second in the month with 1.18 inches.
The warmest day was the 3rd, with 56 degrees, fixe degrees less than the warmest day in August, and the coldest was the 12th, with 44 degrees.
The prevailing wind came from the south-west, on 11 days altogether, the direction of the wind for the balance of the month being north on three days, north-east on one day, northwest on three days, south on two days, west on seven days, and east on one day. HAURAKI PLAINS FIGURES. The rainfall for the month of September as gauged at the office of the Lands Drainage Department, Kerepeehi, totalled 2.52 inches, rain having been recorded on 10 days. In the matter of both rain and wet days,, these figures are well below the average for September over the last 18 years. The total rainfall so far recorded this year amounts to 30.08 inches, which is 2.41 inches below the average for the similar periods in the previous 17 years.
