SWIMMING SEASON.
PREPARATIONS AT PAEROA. SAMUEL CUP ON VIEW. Although the weather is as yet rather too chilly for swimming, the Paeroa Swimming Club is making active preparations for the coming season by holding its annual meeting at an early date. In spite of the fact that several members have recently left the district, it is expected that the club membership will be greatly increased during the coming season. A magnificent solid silver cup, presented by Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., for competition in the Paeroa club, arrived yesterday, and is now on view in the window of F. Williams and Co., jewellers. What .use it will be put to will be decided at the annual meeting on September 27. While on the subject of swimming it is of interest to learn that Miss Ena Stockley, a New Zealand representative at the Olympic games, and who delighted Paeroa with her exhibition at the last aquatic carnival here, is now a resident of Sydney, where she intends to enter for all the principal competitions.
