RIFLE SHOOTING.
PAEROA MINIATURE CLUB. SECOND TEAMS MATCH. Further great interest was displayed on Wednesday evening in the local Drill Hall when the Paeroa Defence Miniature Rifle Club staged the second teams match with a good attendance of members. The shooting was of high standard throughout, and members were very keen to get their own teams in the lead.
The teams were captained by Capt. H. Simmonds, A. A. Jenkinson, W. A. Reid and R. I. Wells, the conditions being the same as the last match, seven shots and one sighter, with each captain to coach his own team. The finishing positions were in doubt right to the firing of the last shot. Eventually R. I. Wells’ team, with a total of 341 out of a possible 350, won by a small margin of 3 points from W. A. Reid’s team.
During the shooting possibles were registered by Capt. H. Simmonds, E. Turton, senr., and R. I. Wells. The scoring was as follows :— No. 4 Team. —R. I. Wells, 70 ; H. V. Cocks, 69 ; A.
