Mr E. L. Shaw, in his capacity as referee of the East v. West seniormatch on Saturday last, while characterising the game as clean and hard-fought, complained in his report of the teams turning up in vari-col-oured jerseys, thereby holding up the game at one time for players to change.
The Tauranga Rugby Union wired to say that it could not meet Paeroa on September 21, as on that day it was to meet Moriinsville at Tauranga. It was decided to wire Tauranga in return submitting September 14 or 28 as a date for it to play Paeroa at Paeroa. '
The Railway Club forwarded four dates as suitable for it to play the Public Works Department in the Sprague Shield competition. The question of accepting a date was left in abeyance until the next meeting for a definite answer, the secretary of the Railway club to be advised of that decision in the meantime.
The team to play Waihi on Saturday, as submitted by the selector, was approved. Last Saturday’s gate takings amounted to £5 2s.
