MOTOR-CAR BURNT.

PRACTICALLY GUTTED. ACCIDENT ON PUKE ROAD. Early this morning, when proceeding a'ong Puke Road towards the Ngahina wharf to meet the s.s. Taniwha, Mr F. Medhurst, of Paeroa, lost his eight-seater Chandler car through fire. When on an incline just about opposite Mr J. Wight’s, the car staggered and stalled. On restarting, a loud explosion came f’ om the rear, and despite Mr Medhurst’s efforts with a fire extinguisher the machine was soon a mass of flames, which reduced the body of the car to a charred wreck. The origin of the fire is a mystery, espocia'ly as it had just been overhauled.
