DISTRICT NEWS.
TURUA. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The Turua Branch of the Plunket Society is holding a baby king and queen carnival for the purpose of raising funds for maintenance, and if possible, for the provision of a rest room. The district has been divided into three areas, and the candidates and their colours are as follows : Turua, white and gold, Ngaire Hill and Earl Robinson ; Kopuarahi, blue, Miss James and Rex. Law ; and Huirau Road, red, Pat Thrupp and Harold Sutton. An extensive programme has been arranged in each district. Turua commenced on Thursday evening with a house party at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. E. Aberhart, at which about 50 young folk had a very enjoyable time with games and competitions, and dancing to gramophone music. Competitions for prizes donated by Sister Sheridan were won by Mrs C.'Scott, Miss L. Aberhart, and Messrs J. Madgwick and A. Lord.
