PAEROA-POKENO LINE.
LABOUR MEMBER’S SUPPORT. DOUBTS EPXRESSED. In the House last Tuesday Mr M. J. Savage, advocating that the Government should take action in connection with the Paeroa-Pokeno line, stated that he had accompanied a very influental deputation to the Minister of r Railways. It did not seem that there was any chance of the Paeroa-Pokeno line being completed, although that line was one of the most sound economic propositions ever put forward. Mr Samuel : Hear, hear. Mr Savage : Well, I’ve £ot one supporter, anyhow. « Mi’ Samuel : Hear, fiear. Mr Savage went on to say that the line would be an economic proposition by reason of the distance and wear and tear which it-.would reduce between Auckland and Paeroa, let alone the country it would open up.
