PRIMARY SCHOOLS FOOTBALL.
Sir,—ln answer to “Another Onlooker” I state that I have nothing to retract from my criticism of primary schools football. “Another Onlooker” has, however, taken it in the wrong spirit. Fax’ be it from “decidedly adverse criticism” ; it was proffered as constructive criticism from an “oldtimer” who knows the game, loves it, and hates to see any signs of it slipping back. To anyone watching the Paeroa boys at play it is obvious that something is lacking—just that finishing touch that means so much. Considerable time has no doubt been expended on their coaching, and at great inconvenience and sacrifice of time to those who have devoted their leisure hours to benefit them, and due thanks must be given those men ; but the fact remains that the coaching has not been effective or shown itself to advantage. I have conversed with a number of people on the subject and they have been in complete agreement with my remarks. And in all fairness to the Hikutaia boys, may it be known that my remarks had nothing whatever to do with them. ONLOOKER.
