THE OHINEMURI MINE.
« NEW PLANT CONSTRUCTED. COMPANY’S ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Ohinemuri Gold and Silver Mines, Ltd., for the year eded on March 31 last congratulates shareholders upon the emergence of the company from a difficult task in providing the necessary funds to complete one of the most modern milling plants and conduct a scheme to provide blocks of milling ore to meet its capacity of 100 tons daily. Mining operations, to a‘ great extent, had been concentrated upon the development of the Camoola and Silver Queen lodes at No. 4 level. The extension of this level to intersect the reef system and subsequent driving developed a substantial tonnage of highly payable ore. Incidentally, it was discovered that the large lode known as the Camoola is composed in the upper levels of two branches, which cover a width of over 60ft. The values contained in these lodes are in veins of good ore, but it is extremely hard to estimate the tonnage. However, there was no doubt that this would be adequate to supply the mill for a very considerable time, while development proceeded. The average value of the ore appeared to be payable. On the Silver Queen lode the drive for the last 120 ft had been carried along on one containing a large percentage of hessite (telluride of silver) of good assay value over an average width of Bft. It would be the policy of the board to continue the opening up of further blocks of ore on the line of the Camoola for 2500 ft at Nos. 3 and 4 levels in the north and south sections of the mine, and also, to a lesser extent, at Nos. 1 and 2 levels. Other exposed reefs would be explored. The estimate of £12,500 for the plant would be exceeded by about £2OOO, chiefly through the adoption of innovations to improve its efficiency and extra costly concrete work found to. be necessary. The balance-sheet showed that a total of £11.375 was expended in mine development during the year—-most of it since August last. At March 31 last £6530 had already been expended in mill construction and the purchase of new plant. The retiring directors are Messrs J. R. MacLennan and W. R. Goudie, who are eligible for re-election.
