« — PRIMARY SCHOOLS UNION. RULES FOR VANCOUVER CUP. At the meeting of the Thames Valley Primary Schools Rugby Union held last Saturday morning Messrs E. Turner, J. Insley, and D. McPherson were deputed to draw up rales governing the Vancouver Cup and submit them to the N.Z. Rugby Union for its approval. The cup, which was presented to the N.Z. Rugby Union by the Mayor of Vane-uver, will be played for under rules similar to those governing the Moascar Cup. Photographs for Players. As sufficient funds for the purpose of securing medals for the members of last year's Thames Valley team were not forthcoming, it was agreed tv spend the money already collected in purchasing photographs and presenting each player with one. Roller Mills Shield. Another factor governing lhe resolution to ask the Auckland executive to arrange for the Roller Mills competition to be held in some other centre, apart from the billeting question, was that of travel. It was considered that the country children should bo given the opportunity of travelling, and thus make the trip of some educational value to them. It was also thought that as the fixture had been staged in this district last season, and as many of the boys who played last year will possioly be included in this year’s selection, it would be of little interest for them to come to this centre again. Veterans game last Saturday was a poor one from a spectator’s point of view. W. Taylor made a good leader for the Veterans, and has not lost the art of kicking a ball. There are few better kicks in Paeroa this season. G Fisher flayed an honest game, having lost none of his old dash. Patterson played well, and was in the thick all the time. V. Young kept on s;de more than usual, and held his pack veil toy'jgether. J. Maloney played a fair £ / game, and has retired from footbill y too early. Eva was the best back on / the Veterans side, and was very safe in his line-kicking. The Pirates team bias a very poor pack. Killgour did not play his usual good game ; he made a poor rover. T Coldicutt should master the offside rule more. He is very fit at present. Bax played his usual safe game. G. Pullar is playing good football at present, and is dependable. His brother has a lot of pace and plays a very W good game. McCollum did not have much to do. This player needs plenty of work, and is always dangerous when near the line. Pirates will have to improve their pack ; then they may stand a chance of winning the knock-out competition.
