FAREWELL SOCIAL.

PRESENTATION TO MR. S. KERR. The Gaiety Theatre), Paeroa, provided the setting for a happy gathering on Monday evening last. The function, a complimentary dance to Mr Stanley Kerr, was of an “au revoir” nature, arranged by a representative committee of Paeroa organ •isations. The success of the evening was in no small measure due to the. untiring efforts of the M’s.C., Messrs C. Vincent, M. Beattie, and V. Carrick ; the ladies in charge of the refreshments section of the function, and to the voluntary providers of jazzy dance airs.

Mr J. W- Si’coek, the spokesman of the gathering, expressed general regret at the early departure of Mr Kerr from'the district, and congratulated him on his appointment to the Whangarei Heads public school. Mr Silcock also referred in appreciative terms to Mr Kerr’s activities in connection with Rugby football matters in the district

The fact that their guest was Noble Grand of the local Loyal Jubilee Manchester Unity Oddfellows Lodge showed his interest in the great Friendly Society movement, while his interest and assistance in benefit efforts, and also as social secretary to the Sports Queen in the present carnival, proved that his help was well “spread.” In handing to Mr Kerr a solid leather suit-case Mr Silcock expressed the gathering’s wishes of good luck from Paeroa friends.

Mr Kerr suitably replied, acknowledging the handsome gift and voicing his personal regrets at leaving so many true friends at Paeroa. The function terminated with the singing of “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
