THE HAURAKI REGIMENT. Promotions. Second-Lieutenant L. A. Watkins, Ist Cadet Battalion, to be lieutenant. Dated June 20, 1929. Mr Watkins is a master at the Thames High School. Eric Stelfoxe Clarke to be 2nd-lieu-tenant (on probation), and posted to the Ist Cadet BattaJion. Dated June 20, 1929. Mr Clarke is headmaster of the Te Aroha High Schoo). Personal. Colonel E. W. Porritt, T.D., honorary colonel, Hauraki Regiment, paid a visit to regimental headquarters last week. Transfers. Staff Sergeant-Major (W.0.) W. W. C. Cossgi’ove, N.Z.P.S., who has been stationed at Thames for some 12 years, has been transferred to Ponsonby, Auckland, as battalion ‘’quar-termaster-sergeant, Ist battalion, North Auckland Regiment. His place at Thames has been taken by Corporal P. Brant, N.Z.P.S., from station at Whangarei. Staff Sergeant-Major (W.O. 2) R. Meecham, N.Z.P.S., who has been stationed at Rotorua for nine years, has been transferred to the HobSonville aerodrome. Staff Sergeant-Major (W.0.) W. Bates, D.C.M., N.Z.P.S., recently regimental sergeant-major with the Samoan MiEtary Police, replaces him. Drums and Band. New instruments have been ordered for the drums. of the Hauraki Regiment and should arrive any day. They will be emblazoned with the regimental battle honours. The Ist battalion band has started practice for the presentation of colours ceremony. It is expected that 30 members will attend the camp. Promotion Examination. Eight n.c,o.’s of the regiment are sitting for the Ist appointment to commission examination in Septenir ber. The regimental correspondence course of instruction, mainly for* the purpose of assisting at the promotion examination, and conducted from Paeroa, has been taken adv antage *gf by several officers and n.c.o.’te of the? Regiment.
