OBITUARY.

MRS. REBECCA DEAN.

The funeral took place at Paeroa on Thursday of Mrs Rebecca Dean,' an old and greatly respected resident of the district, whose death occurred 1 on Tuesday at Ngongotaha, the residence of her daughter. The late Mrs Dean was the second daughter of Mr R. Craig, who came out to New Zealand in the sailing vessel Helenslie in 1864 and settled at Pokeno. She married the Jate Mr Thomas Dean (who died on February 7, 1914) in June, 1892, and arrived at Paeroa in 1895, just after the opening of the railway. Mrs Dean resided in Paeroa until a few years ago, when she left to live at Komata North. Both with her husband and since his demise she always took a great interest in Methodist Church work. Mrs Dean leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, Mrs Prisk (Rotorua), Mrs Bertlesen (Cambridge), and Mrs Whitmore (Palmerston North) ; two af sons, Mr Kenneth Dean (Paeroa), and Mr Leslie Dean (Komata), and several grandchildren. «
