PAEROA LADIES’ CLUB. Last Friday a Paeroa team journeyed to Waihi and played a match with the Waihi ladies, the home team winning by one game. Following are the results, the Waihi players being mentioned first :— Miss Patterson v. Mrs Bray, 4 up and 3 to play ; Mrs Patterson v. Mrs Miller, 6 down and 5 ; Mrs Walmsley v. Miss G. Gibb, 1 up ; Mrs Malyon v. Miss L. Thorp, 1 up ; Miss Goodridge v. Miss Tierney, 1 down ; Mrs Morgan v. Miss M. Thorp, all square ; Mrs Baker v. Mrs Hubbard, 4 up and 3 ; Mrs F. Haszard v. Miss M. Gibb, 5 down and 3 ; Mrs W. Johnson v. Mrs Andrews, 5 up and 4 ; Mrs Clark v. Miss Argali, 4 down and 2 ; Mrs Brady v. Miss N. Surrey, 4 down and 3 ; Mrs Barron v. Miss G. Surrey, 3 up and 2. The best card for the July medal, played for last Saturday, was returned by Mrs Bray, with a net score of 77.
As a result of the Championship qualifying round played last Saturday, the following players qualified and will play their matches by July 20 : Mrs Bray v. Mrs Hubbard, Mrs Miller v. Miss Argali, Miss G. Gibb v. Miss Tierney, Miss Walmsley v. Miss L. Thorp, Mrs Silcock a bye. Next Saturday the second round of the Club Handicap (bogey) will be played ; also the bogey match for Mrs Silcock’s trophy. Players will arrange their own partners. In conjunction with this competition a specially arranged match for both ladies and men is to be played, for which an entrance fee of Is will be charged and the proceeds given to the Sports Queen. A recortl attendance of players is anticipated.
