PAEROA HOSPITAL.
GROUNDS TO BE IMPROVED.
DEDICATION OF WARDS. A Public Works Department contour plan of the Paeroa Hospital site, forwarded by Mr W. Marshall, Mayor of Paeroa, was produced by the chairman at the meeting of the Thames Hospital Board on Monday and inspected with interest by members. The chairman reported that in company with Mr Marshall and Mr A. P. Grant. Public Works Department engineer, he had inspected the Paeroa hospital and its site. The building had been erected on practically virgin ground, and much work was necessary to put it in order. The Paeroa Borough Council was prepared to have certain work done on behalf of the board, ‘ and Mr Marshall had undertaken to supervise it. Details of the proposed works were explained by Mr Brenan, who stated that the estimated cost was £665.
The board agreed to the proposition, being of, the opinion that the work was necessary, and was desirable as a means of reducing future maintenance.
Mr Brenan mentioned that no conditions bad been attached to the donations by the Paeroa people for the building of the Paeroa hospital. Two trust funds had been transferred to the board, and he considered that the board should recognise these funds by dedicating the maternity section to Nurse Mary Pennell. A brass plate should be erected above the door. Above the door of the casualty ward a plate should be erected with the name “Hauraki Ward.” This was agreed to.
