CYCLIST INJURED.

COLLISION WITH MOTOR-CAR.

ACCIDENT ON PUKE ROAD.

On Saturday, at 12.30 p.m., at the Puke Road crossing, a motor-cycle ridden by Mr Arthur Peke collided with a limousine Buick owned by Mr W. Marshall.

The car was travelling towards the station when the cyclist approached at right angles from Puke Road. Both vehicles were moving at a moderate speed. Mr Peke, on making the corner, evidently became bewildered at his proximity to the car and hesitated a moment, with the result that he struck Mr Marshall’s car on the left-hand side.

Mr Peke was thrown heavily, and was removed to the Thames Hospital suffering from head injuries and a severed sinew in the hand. On inquiry this morning it was learned that he is progressing favourably. The motor-cycle came off best with a broken fork, but the car was damaged all along the left side of the body. The runningboard was buckled, the handles torn off both doors, and the window of the rear door smashed.
