Thomas is unable to play through influenza and Taylor will take his place. CRITICISM OF PLAYERS. (By “Onlooker.”) The trial game last Saturday was a good one, and several players showed to advantage. Rare played a first-class game, but needs schooling in his kicking. McColiuni, on the wing, will take a lot of stopping if he is near the goal-line McNeil played his best game to date, but he kicks a little too much. Bennett played a good game for the B team and takes a ball well, but is not strong enough on defence. McGarvey has gone off a little, but can play good football ; he has a nice cut in. Swann played a good game and was kicking well. McKinnon played a fine game behind the B pack and was one of the outstanding backs on the groud. McCollum as five-eighths played good football—he should combine well with Swann. Moore as half wants to feci his backs well and cut out the shor| punt. Coldicutt played a. brilliantl game, but his only one this season. He would be very handy as a rover. The forwards played well. The B hookers secured the ball more often than did the A’s, but with plenty of practice that should be easily overcome. Taylor played a good gamq and should get a trial in the representative team. Killgour is well worth his place in the reps, and should shew to advantage in a good pack. Henderson is a very handy man in a team, as he can play lock or in the front row ; he also tackles well. N. Neil played a better game last Saturday, but is a little too light for hard football. Hamilton was hooking well with Neil — these two play well together. BeagIcy is a good stamp of forward, but does not use his size and weight enough. Murray has played good club football this season and is well worthy of a trial in the reps.’ Johnson plays hard football, but not up to representative standard. Tohu is playing in his wrong place ; he would make a better centre three-quarter, as he was in the backs most of the game. The representative team chosen is a well-balanced one. The backs should all combine well, as they are good on attack and defence. NOTES FROM THE PLAINS. ■ The senior and junior representative teams selected to play Paeroa tomorrow —the seniors at Paeroa and the juniors at Ngatea—are meeting with general approval by followers of the game, although, of course, the approval is not unanimous. Maurice Martin, the senior hooker, is away from the district on holiday and will not be available. Likewise C. Murray, a hooker for the juniors, will not be available. The Elvin jiamed in the senior emergencies is A. and not G., as published. In the report of the Plains Rugby Union meeting ,in Wednesday’s issue it was stated that a protest by the Kerepeehi Club was upheld. This was wrong, as the decision was to dismiss the protest. It is understood that the Kerepeehi Club intends to appeal against the decision.
