MILITARY NOTES.

THE HAURAKI REGIMENT. Staff Changes. Captain G. Dittmer, M.C., N.Z.S.C., has taken up the duties of staff officer, No. 1 Regimental District, Paeroa. Lieutenant G. H. Heal, who was acting area officer at Paeroa, has been transferred to Auckland in a similar capacity. Re-organisation of Regiment. As a result of reposting, which took place on June 1, the Ist battalion, Hauraki Regiment, has been reorganised as follows as from that date : — Headquarters Wing No. 1 Group : Signallers, Tauranga, 34 ; Intelligence section, Paeroa, 8 ; Band, Thames, 38. No. 2 Group : Anti-tank section, Paeroa, 19. No. 3 Group : Transport drivers, from M.G. centres, 40. Total, 139. Machine-gun Company, No. 1 section : Rotorua. 35 ; No. 2, Cambridge, 43 : No. 3, Waihi, 48 ; No. 4, Morrinsville, 23. Total, 149. “A” Company : No. 1 platoon, Thames, 30 ; No. 2, Thames, 30 ; No.' 3, Hikutaia, 26 ; No. 4, Te Aroha, 47 ; Paeroa, 14. Total, 147.

“B” Company : No. 5 platoon, Tauranga, 15 ; No. 6, Te Puke, 37 ; No. 7, Whakatane, 39 ; No. 8, Opotiki, 46. Total, 137. '

“C” Company : No. 9 platoon, Waitoa, 41 ; No. 10, Walton, 25 ; No. 11. Matamata, 46 ; No. 12, Tirau, 19. Putaruru, 28. Total, 162. Note. —Pioneers, police, batmen, etc., for H.Q. Wing will be taken from companies that are overstrength when in camp, but they require no special, training. They are shown in their respective localities in the above table. The 40 transport drivers include 10 men from each of the M.G. centres.
