PLAINS ASSOCIATION MEETS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOUR. The Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association met at Ngatea on Monday evening, Mr C. W. Harris presiding over Messrs H. L. Berney (Waitakaruru), J. Miller and H. Kerby (Kopuarahi), R. C. Abel (High School), S. C. Collinson (Kerepeehi), E. Campbell (selector), T. Field (coach), and E. R. Alexander (secretary). Championship Points. The position of the teams at the end of the first round is as follows : — . Waitakaruru, 10 points ; Kerepeehi A, 10 points ; Kopuarahi A, 8 points, with one’ match to play ; Ngatea School, 6 points ; Kopuarahi B, 4 points ; ' Turua, 2 points, with one match to play ; Kerepeehi B, 0 points. The Second Round. The draw for the second round resulted as follows :— July 20 : Kerepeehi A, at Waitakaruru ; Turua, at Kopuarahi A ; Kopuarahi B, at Kerepeehi B. July 27 : Kerepeehi B, at Waitakaruru ; Kopuarahi A , at Kerepeehi A ; Kopuarahi B, at School. August 3 : Kopuarahi B at Waitakaruru ; Kerepeehi A, at Turua ; Kerepeehi B, at School. August 10 : Waitakaruru, at Kopuarahi A ; 7 Turua, at Kopuarahi B ; School, at Kerepeehi A. August 17 : Turua, at Waitakaruru ; Kerepeehi A, at Ke.repeehi B ; Kopuarahi A, at School. August 24 : Waitakaruru, at School ; Kerepeehi B, at Turua ; Kopuarahi A, at Kopuarahi B. August 31 : Kopuarahi B, at Kerepeehi A ; Kerepeehi B, at Kopuarahi A ; School, at Turua. Visit to Auckland. ' Advice of the annual Country Week Tournament in Auckland from July 8 to July 12, inclusive, was received from the Auckland Association. It was agreed to enter a team, and a committee comprising Messrs J. H. Nicholson, C. W. Harris, G. Muller, S. C. Collinson, and E. R. Alexander was appointed to co-operate with the several clubs to arrange functions with the purpose of raising funds to finance the trip. The secretary was instructed to ar range, accon.modatidn and transportation. It was decided to play a trial match at Kerepeehi on Saturday next under the control of Referees Field and Tate. The teams selected were as follows : A Team.—R. Harris, C. Hegh, M. Miller, S. Clifford, A. Peters, E. Stephens, E. McPherson, F. Berney, Mavis Beaver, Myrtle Courtney, Edna Candy. Emergencies : E. Wheeler, P. Norcott. , B Team.—N. Gray, N. Peters, R. Smith, N. Fisher, H. Harwood, M. Nicholson, Ethel Candy, M. dordon. D. Harwood.. A. Candy, Madge Beaver. Emergencies : L x . Aberhart and S. Manktelow. Challenge Match. It was decided to challenge the Thames Association for the'Johnstone Cnp, the game to be played on August 8 as a curtain-raiser to the match against the touring Australian team. LAST SATURDAY’S GAMES. The last matches of the first round of the Hauraki Plains ladies’ hockey competition were played on Saturday in fine weather on slippery fields. Ngatea School beat Turua by five goals to one, the scorers being Misses E. McPherson, K; McKerchar, I. Sparrow, M. Elliott, and V. Bertelsen for the winners, and by Miss McAlister for Tutu a.
When the two teams from each of the Kopuarahi and Kerepeehi clubs met, the A team won in each case by four goals to one.. For Kopuarahi A the goals were shot by Misses Edna Candy (2j, Ethel Candy, and A. Candv, and for the Kopuarahi B team Miss G. Hale shot the goal. Miss Smith was the scorer for Kerepeehi B The Waitakaruru Club, which had a bye, played the Thames team and suffered defeat by seven goals to nil. The Kopuarahi men beat Thames by seven goals to two.
