In the senior grade East n nets Pirates at 2.45, and after their narrow and perhaps somewhat unlucky defeat by Suburbs last Saturday the former team will be worth watching. East’s record has been a succession of losses this season, but they have their chance now. West try conclusions with Suburbs at 2.45, these being the leading clubs in the competition table. The junior match scheduled is East v. West, while the third-grade teams have a bye. In the morning two schoolboy matches will take place at the Domain, Paeroa A v. Paeroa B, and • Hikutaia v. (By “Onlooker;”) Two of the poorest club games this season were witnessed in Paeroa last Saturday. Pirates have had bad luck in losing/ such a good forward in Frost, and he will be missed when the representative games come round. Killgour played another good game for Pirates, but should make sure to tackle his man. This player niust be considered when the representative team is selected. Coldicutt should practice catching a ball and he then would be able to make some good openings for his side as he has plenty of pace. The two McCollum brothers combine well, and are the mainstay of the Pirates back division. Bax and Pullar both play good safe games. West have a new player in Brown, and he is a good stamp of forward. Henderson was tackling well. Beagley plays a good game, but needs a little more dash. Page is a good forward, but should try and avoid tripping. Nield was always in the picture until he hurt his knee. Swann played a safe game, but needs to put more dash into his play. Fraser was safe at full-back.

East were unlucky in not making a draw with Suburbs. The penalty kick given against them was quite in order, as the rule distinctly says that the players standing on the mark must remain passive with their hands by their sides, and in no way put the kicker off his kick. McQuarters played a good game, and so did McNeil. H. Moore had bad luck in getting his eye cut, as he was playing a fine game up to his retirement. Curly Neil is not the forward he was last season, but he may improve. Thomas played another good game for Suburbs, as also did C. Vedder. Tahu is playing better this season. All the forwards in Suburbs play hard football. McGarvey has played better games. Mcßae is not quite so good this season. Rare is very safe at full-back, and must be considered when the representatives are being selected.
