PROGRESS ON THE PLAINS. MEN’S CLUBS FORMED. To the long list of sports clubs on the Hauraki Plains has been added another by the formation of a men’s hockey club in Turua, while at Kerepeehi a similar club is in process of formation. These clubs, together with the Kopuarahi club, which was reorganised last season, have affiliated with the Thames-Hauraki Hockey Association. The Turua Club has elected the following officers : Patron, Mi - S. S. Murray ; president, Mr J. M. Mules ; vice-presidents, Messrs R. Muller and W. Chapman ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. M. Dando ; committee, Messrs G. Jenkins, L. Young, N. Kendall, K. Cosson, H. Aberhart, F. Handley, and Dr. Miller; coach, Dr. T. Miller ; social committee, Messrs R. Muller, K. Cosson, G. Clark, F. Griffiths; H. Griffiths, F. Scott, H. Aberhart, N. Kendall; delegates to the Association, Messrs R. Muller and H. Aberhart. The membership fee was fixed at ss, and it was decided that the club provide players with sticks. As these had not arrived by last Saturday ‘he team would not have been able to play its match with Kerepeehi even had that team been in a position to take the field. Position in Kerepeehi. A meeting for the purpose of forming a club in Kerepeehi was held on Friday evening last, but as only seven players attended little could be done. Another meeting is to be held. It is thought that there will be suflicient players available, but few have had experience and none of them has a stick at present.
