RIFLE SHOOTING.
SATURDAY’S MATCH. R. WELLS HIGHEST SCORE. Members of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club met last Saturday on the local rifle range to fire in the semifinal match for the Club Championship. Shooting was carried out from the 800 and 900 yards ranges, in perfect weather, but a tricky wind puzzled the marksmen, especially while shooting from the 800yds range, and prevented any very high scoring. Rfm. R. Wells came out top on the day’s shooting with a total of 66, including 32 out of the possible 35 at 900 yards. Following are the-details :
The three Reading scores in the championship are Captain Simmonds, 503; F. C. Hubbard, 482; and R. Wells, 449.
