o . NGATEA. HOCKEY CLUB’S BALL. Attracted by the low price of admission, there was a very large attendance at the Ngatea Ladies’ Hockey Club’s ball in the Ngatea Hall on Tuesday evening last, dancers having come from all parts of the Plains and in great numbers from Thames. Splendid music was provided by the K Boys’ Orchestra, and Mr J. Bowers made an efficient M.C. The hall was prettily decorated with paper streamers of the club’s colours, blue and red, and the floor was in good order. All went merrily until supper time. Supper had been set in Mr J. Reid’s garage, next door to the hall, but on account of the attendance being in excess of that anticipated, and the fact that the fruit salads and trifles, etc., had been placed on the tables in large bowls, so that those who were in the first sitting were able to eat as much as they pleased, there was practically nothing left for those who had drawn tickets for the second and third sittings.
