The following resolution was passed at last Thursday’s meeting of the Borough Council in connection with the Paeroa-Pokeno railway : “That the council urge the member for the district to use his best endeavours to persuade the Prime Minister and the Minister of Railways to visit the district for the purpose of personally looking into the question of immediate construction of the PaeroaPokeno railway.”

Delegates of ‘ the Waitakaruru, Ngatea, and Hauraki Plains West football clubs met at Ngatea on Friday evening for the purpose of defining the boundary of the two new clubs which are to be formed on the western side of the Piako River under the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union’s scheme of reducing the number of clubs. The matter was amicably discussed, and it was agreed to define a boundary along Hopai Road to Pouarua Road, thence to Torehape Road, and straight over the hills to the boundary of the union. The clubs will be known as North and South, respectively.

Officers appointed by the Turua Ladies’ Hockey Club at its annual meeting last Friday evening were as follows : President, Mr F. C. Robinson ; vice-presidents, Messrs K. Cosson and J. Kendall; secretary, Miss L. Aberhart; delegates to Hauraki Plains Associaton, Messrs C. Muller and H. Aberhart; committee, all officers and Messrs F. Scott, S. Stephens, G. Clark, and Misses 1/ Stephens, A. Curtis, and E. Aberhart. The club will have one team, and will enter' two teams for the five-aside tournament at Thames on Saturday next.

The Kopuarahi Cricket Club won the Hauraki Plains Association’s club competition by beating Ngatea by 41 runs in the play-off match, which was concluded at Kopuarahi on Saturday. Ngatea made 73, and Kopuarahi 48, which, added to the scores of the first innings played on the previous Saturday, made the totals Kopuarahi 162, Ngatea 121.'
