NGATEA. ADDITIONAL SCHOOL GROUNDS. Advice has been received by the Ngatea District High School Committee that t.he Education Departement has secured for extension of the school playground an area of. 1 acre, 3 roods, 1.3 perqhes, situated behind five building sections fronting the main road through Ngatea township. These sections are 2% chains dee|p and the additional school land is approximately half, of that used recently for the school championship sports. The committee inspected the land on Saturday morning last, and agreed to have the fences taken down to enable the area to bq fenced and grassed. The fences will then be reerected to enclose the at,ea. and will be made sufficiently strong to prevent spectators from trespassing op their way to th® football field. A lane with gates will be provided as access to the football fields. KEREPEEHI. ODDFELLOWS’ LODGE. Over 200 members of the Oddfellows’ Lodge, including visitors from Tuakau, paeroa, Netherton, and Thames, jv’cjre pr gsent at the regular meeting of the Loyal Kerepeehi Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. on Wednesday evening, when three new members were initiated, and a presentation was made. This was to PG. Bro. C- Stembridge, of Netheiton, and wasi made by Bro. A. E. Ludlow, N.G., of the Kerepeehi Lodge, in recognition of the work done by him in the establishment of the Hauraki Plains branch. At the; close of formal business a splendid supper was served, and a dance was held, during which items were contributed by Sistejr Bertelsen, of paeroa, and Bro. Briggs, of Thames.
