THE PIRATES CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The second annual meeting of the Pirates Football Club was held in the Public Works Department office on Monday evening. Mr J. C. McDonald having been elected to the chair, the secretary read the minutes of the last annual meeting, which were confirmed. Annual Report. The annual report was read as follows “ Inauguration.—We are much indebted to the enthusiasts who were instrumental in inaugurating the club. The success of the club during, the season was largely due to the untiring efforts and encouragement given by these men. “The team competed in the D>?sdale Cup senior competition, winning two matches out of nine played, and also in the Knockout Competition, jh which it. was defeated in the first match. Although only two out of the ten matches were won during the season, the team always gave a good exhibition, and the majority of the matches were closely conte,ste.e. An outstanding feature was the • good feeling and sportsmanship which prevailed in- the team. The reliability and consistency of the players is well worthy of comment. * “ Training.—ln conjunction with the East Club the Drill Hall was hired for one nigjit a week for training purposes. Unfortunately very few players availed themselves of the opportunities thus presented. Had the team paid more attention to its training it is probable that better results would have been obtained during the season. “ Thanks.—Our keen appreciation is due to our patron, Mr p. G. Thornton, who presentejd) tw<s handsome medals to the c.lub. The, medal for the most consistent player, was awarded to G. D. Frost, and the one for *he most improved back was awarded to J. R. Goon an. “ Representatives.—Our eongratul actions are duq to the fol'owing, who gained representative honours.: K. BLockett and G. D. Frctet, who played in both' the Thames Valley rep. team and the Paeroa rep. team, and) G. Morrow, B. McNeil, J. McCarroll, and E. Smart, who played in thq Paeroa rep. team. “'At the close of the scasop a cl,ub “ smoiko ” was mooted, but owing, to the unfortunate death of our late hon. secretary and Mr Keith Lockett, this was abandoned: “Obituary.—Our deepest sympathy; which was expressed in a letter tQ Mr and Mrs C- B. Lcickett, Is due to them in the sad loss off their son Keith, who, in addition to being one of the; most prominent members of the club, was. one of the leading per-; farmers bn the field in the Thames Valley Union. Subsequent to the' resignation of S- A. Shephard as horn secretary and treasurer Kejthi Lockett carried on with those duties. “ Finance.—The credit balance is 15s 7d as per bank book.
