PIAKO CLUB COMPETITION. PAEROA WINS WALTERS CUP. On Saturday at Matamata, as a result of the last day’s play to decide the championship of the Piako Cricket Association, Paeroa defeated Matamata by six wickets. The total scares were: First innings, Matamata, 126; Paeroa, 131; second innings, Matamata, 57; Paeroa. 59 for four wickets. Paeroa thus wins the competition, which carries with it the coveted Walters Cup. PLAINS MATCHES. s CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. Kopuarahi made 114, and Ngatea 48. PAEROA PRIMARY SCHOOL. A SPLENDID SEASON. The Paeroa Primary School team has an unbeaten record this season, having played and won 18 matches. A combined team picked from Hikutaia, Netherton, Komata, and the Convent met the team at the domain on the 6th inst, Paeroa winning by three wickets and 61 runs. The visitors’ bowling and fielding were good. For Paeroa Callagher and Arnold put oh- 61, before a wicket fell. The fielding of Wright, Roberts, Shand, and Stevens for the home team was excellent, while Arnold’s six .wickets for 6 runs was a splendid effort. Paeroa entertained the visitors to lunch.
