STOCK SALE AT PAEROA. A FULL YARDING. At the. Paertfa stock sale on Monday there was a full yarding of all classes of cattle; Competition was keen throughout the sale, although values had an easing tendency towards the end.
The dairy class consisted mostly of backward springers, but anything forward was eagerly sought after - and sold at firm market quotations. Best dairy cows and heifers made £9 to £l2, others £7 10s to £8 15s, backward £6 to £7 ss, aged and inferior £4 tb £5 15s. Beef cows, mostly lighter quality, fetched from £9 to £lO ss, others £7 to £8 15s ; forwardconditioned cows £5 10s to £6 10s; boner cows £3 10s to £5 ss, according to age and condition ; aged and lowconditioned cows SOS' to £2 10s ; incalf heifers .£4 10s to £6 ; empty heifers, £2 10s to £5 for those of Jersey breed ; heifer calves, Shorthorn, 35s to £2 15s, Jersey £2 to £3 ss; yearling steers £3 10s to £4. IQs. The yarding of bulls consisted mostly, of lightweights, selling from £4 to £7 17s 6d. A small yarding of sheep was composed of ewes and lambs. Ewes made from 14s to 18s 6d, lambs from 14s to £l. Pigs were still dull of sale, weaners making 3s to 7s, slips 8s to 14s. Accommodation was taxed to the full, the yards being chock -ablock. Buyers were present in large numbers, including some from Auckland and the Waikato. The values were a decided improvement bn those of the last sale.
