THE HAUBAKI REGIMENT. PROMOTION. Lieutenant W. H. Evans. 2nd Cad* l Battalion, Hauraki Regiment, to be; captain ; elated January 4. IMF. INSPECTION. Captain R. J. Davis, N.Z.S-C., Clief Instructor, Small Arms School, Trentha.m, and officer c.Oiinmaiidii'ng N.Z. Permanent Farce training cadre, Trentham, and Lieutenant E. Ting,ley, M.C., weapon training instructor, Northenn .Command, are on a; tour of the, Hauraki Regimental District, dur-, ing the course of which they inspected the Pacroa and Waihi rifle ranges last week. CONSOLIDATED TRAINING. F’Oir those trainees who, owing to various causes, are not in ft position to attend the regular nightly drills, consolidated’ camps Will be hqld at Hikutaia from the 15th to the 20th inst, at Matamata from the 22nd to the 27th, and at Waitote from the 29th inst. to the 4th May. Thes.e five days, together with attendance at the annual camp qualifies these trainees for the; ye«r. CAMP WITH MOUNTED RIFLES. About 30 members of the Hauraki Regiment who weje unable to attend the battalion camp will go under canvass with the Waikato Mounted Rill'-'’ at the Waikato camp from the Bth the 18th 'inst. With about 60 other infan try of the same category from various foot regiments they will undergo infantry training as unit apart from the Mounted Ri(l«s. f CADETS. The Thame* High School Cadets went into camp last month under tnc command of Lieut. W. H. Marshall, with 2nd Lieut. L. A. Watkins as -second Ju command. Thejy were assisted in their duties by Lieut. V. J. Innes. The 98 boys who* were in camp underwent the usual training syllabus-Brigadier-General H. N- Potter C.M.G'., O.C. Northern Command, inspected the cadets and took the salute at a march past. The Brigadier cjxpressed himself as well Satisfied with the parade, etc. CADET BAND. The Cadet Band at Peeroa has been getting in some excellent training, and well-attejpded rehearsals have had the result of success.
