o PIG-MARKETING ASSOCIATION. MONTHLY REPORT. The N.Z. Co-operative Pig-Market-ing Association, Hamilton, hah. issued the following monthly report:— The past month was the; largest since the association started operations. Pigs to the number of 5970 have been handled, approximately half of them being porkers and: the other half baconers, On February 12, owing to various advantageous sales of pigs, it was found possible to raise thq advance payment on all pigs of from 601 b to 1401 b from 3d to 4%dThis increase in the advance payment immediately reflected itself in a large increase in the supply of pigs coming to hand.
Supplies of pigs, are being rapidly disposed of, and there is ejvery indication that the season will be a very successful one fpr the association. Pigs are being shipped practically as quick-: ly as they arrive at the works, thereby relieving the local marisqt and) keeping prices steady.'
Among the condemned pigs handled by the association we find occasionally cases of stags, and of pigs condemned fpr sexua] odour. The association will take no responsibility whatever in these casep, and no payout will be made on pigs so condemned.
Regular orders continue to come in for bacon, most of thie, suppliers, now buying their’ bacon regularly through tlie association. The association will be offering a supply of heavy bacon in long sidejs at Id per lb undler ruling prices. First supplies of this heavy bacon will be available in about three weeks’ time.
