PERSONAL.
On the invitation of Mr A. MSamuel, M.P., the Hon. W. A. Veiteh, Minister of Mines; will visit the Thames electorate as. .soon- as he can conveniently do so, probably within the next few weeks.
The Rev. A. F. Smith, who for some time held the incumbency of Paeroa. and who is a brother-in-law to Mr T. P. Wglar, of. this tjown, has recently been appointed Rural Dean of Calcewaith North, Lincolnshire, England. The Rev. well remembered through his activities here apd great* ly respected by all who knew him, left New Zealand in 1911 accompanied by M'rc-j Smith, who died, in November. For a year after reaching England he was preacher and lecturer for the Society for the Propagation, of the Gospel, and in 1912 he entered the diocese of Manchester to become senior curate cf Lytham Parish Church, a position which he retained until accepting the Vicariate 'of Moorside, Oldham, in 1914. For three years lie held that living, and duffing that time held many public positions. In 1917 the Rev. Smith was. appointed Rector of St. Bride’s, Old Trafford, ■Mandhcstejr, leaving there to take up his late position at Tothill, Lincolnshire.
