In- this issue is quoted a letter from Dr. Chesson, Medical Officer of Health for the Auckland District, to the Ohinemuri County Council, covering a report from Mr Gt C- Whitej health inspector, anent the county abattoir. It comes rather late in the day, long after the efforts of tflils paper on the public’s behalf have been successful. One item in the report, though, invites reference to. The inspector says : “I could not s;ee. any justificatio®, for the article that was published in the ‘Hauraki Plains) Gazette.’ From our department’s point of view, if the meat was, hung in a fly-proof room and the offal re;moved daily, the pla e would meet with oun -requirements.’’ He denies the justification of. the article in question and; then proceeds to state, that a fly-proof room is necessary—the very point the “Hauraki Plains Gazette” has been stressing all aleng 1
