HIKUTAIA WINS B GRADE CUP.
On Saturday the Thames Valley Lawn Tennis Association’s, B grade competition for a cup presented by Mi H. .Mills, of Te Aroha, was; concluded bn the Paeroa courts. The Hikutaia t.ca.m met the Paeroa repre-. sentatives and gained a victory by 8 sets to 5, and thus won the; cup for this season. Fallowing are the details, Hikutaia players being mentioned first: —
■Men’s Singles.—Elliott beat G> Wells, 9—l ; Alley beat O’Neill, 9—2 ; McGarvey beat Carden, 9—7; Tahu beat Grant, 9—2.
Ladies’ Singles.—Miss I- Alley, beat Miss M. Taylor, 7—6 ; Miss V. Brown lost to Miss Milroy, 3 —7.
Mijn’s Doubles.—Elliott and Tahu boat Wells and O’Neill, 9—2 ; Alley and McGarvey beat Carden and Grant, D— 1 ; Young and Rare lost to insley and Taylor, B—9.
Ladies’ Doubles. Misses Alley and Brown beat Misse? Taylor ami Milrte’, 7 —5 ; Misses Morrison and Turner lost to Miss Barwell and Mrs, McMillan, 2—7. Combined Doubles. —Rare and Miss Turner lost to Inslejy and Miss Barwell, o—70 —7 ; Young and Miss Morrison lost to G. Taylor and Mrs, McMillan, 4—7. Totals: Hikutaia, 8 sets; Paeroa, 5 sets. PAEROA DEFEATS NGATEA. A friendly match with a team from Ngatea was alsp played on the Paeroa courts, a. victory gping to the local side.
