HAURAKI WEST AREA. MEEThNG OF BOARD. The Haurnki Plains West Drainage Board held its monthly meeting. in Mr E. L. Walton’s meeting room yesterday afternoon, Mr C. W- Parfitt presiding over Messrs A. H. McClean, J. Motion, A. Douglas, T. A. Me Clean, the clerk (Mr E. L. Walton), and t|he foreman (Mr E. Flavell). j SETTLERS -DRAIN. f Two tenders were received for the work of, cutting and removing the hedge in the Settlers drain, but as the owner of. the hedge had commenced the work to save the c.ost being charged to him by thd board,' no contract was let. A PUHANGiA DRAIN. ■ It was decided tpl take over the drain between the land of Mr J. Leonard and -Mrs .Budding, Puhanga. Island, and to require it, to be fenced up to a standard sufficient to prevent stock damaging the drain. FURTHER CLEANING WORKSThe board, went, into committee to consider the list of further drains to receive attention, and on resuming il> qpen meeting it was. decided to call' tenders for cleaning the following drains :— Ngatea-Pipiroa Road; both sides, in 5 sections ; pipiroa corner to floodgate, south side; Dalgety’s corner to J’quarua Road, sduth sidfe ; Apple-,tree outlet; Donaghy’s outlet; French’s outlet; Settlers drain, from main road. 1 to Pouarua Road; Hopai Road and to Neate’s; Rawerawe North ; Rawe- " rawe South; Rawerawe Rivqr Road, from Paul’s wharf; Ngatea factory to Paul’s outlet; Tommy’s drai ll (Davidson’s), 'Orchard West Road, both sides ; Phillips’ Road, north sidfc; Canal Road., east side ; Duckling’s outlet ; Ngatea township drain ; Pipiroa centre drain; Waitakaruru canal to Pouarua Road; Pouarua Road, wept side; settlers drain, toi neate’s. PROTECTION OF DRAINS. The foreman was instructed to. report on all matters requiring attention to protect the; board’s: drains, and the clerk was instructed to take whatever action was necessary.
