OPERATIONS IN OHINEMURI.
ENGINEER’S MONTHLY REPORT.
The following report was presented at yesterday’s meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council by the actingengineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, On work carried out during the month:— WAIHI RIDING. “Maintenance, as usual, has been carried out on all roads in this rjding, with the exception of Frankton Road, which requires a good deal of patching material. This road will receive attention as soon as other wo,r,ks au-. thcffised are completed. Authority has not yet come to hand for the metalling of the Waihi-Waitawheta road. The contract for metalling portion of Matangia Road is nearing completion. The creek crossing on Pukekauri Road has been concreted! WAIKINO RIDING. “All metal roads have been attended to. The forming of a portion of the road leading to Mr Bedford’s property has been completed during .the month. WAITEKAURI RIDING. “The surfacing of the roughest portions of the Waiteka.uri rtoadi was completed during this period. MANGAITI RIDING. “The contract on the Old 'JTe Aroha, Road at Snakey Bend was completed during, last week. PAEROA RIDING. “All roads and bridges havef been receiving attention. The metalling of two sections of Rotokohu Road is pro--ceeding, the metal being supplied from the Komata quarry. MAIN-HIGHWAYS. “During thtwmbnth tenders were called for the delivery of on to the Netherton Fejrry-Hikutaia road', .tiie contract being let to Mr G. Brown, of Turua, who is preheeding satisfactorily with the work. “Fine metal for, the Hamilttin-Pae-roa main highway from the Te Aroha, borough boundary to Waitoki Creek is being supplied and delivered from Clarkin’s quaryy at Te Aroha. Prices are being arranged for the PaeroaTirohia section. “Metal for tfie Paeroa-Hikutafa main highway is to be supplied from the council’s plant at Komata Creek, and a start will be macle as soon aS the Rotokoru Road metalling is finished. PAEROA WATER SUPPLY. “During the present dry spell the' pressure has not been very satisfac-, tor,y, and consequently consumers on the long leads have at times been inconvenienced by not getting, sufficient water. “Mr W. H. Taylor, the c-Plntractor for the additional watejr supply from Green’s Creek, is making good progress. The whole of the concrete Work has been completed, and only the laying and joining of the pipe main remains to be done.”
