SWIMMING.
WAIHI CLUB’S CARNIVAL.
SUCCESS OF PAEROA SWIMMERS.
Great interest was manifested, in the Waihi Swimming, Carnival by members of the paeipa Club, some sixty making the journey to Waihi on Monday night Local competitors did fairly well, winning quite a number of. events. Messrs Watson and Verran gave, an exhibition of trick diving which was very interesting to watch. The handicapping, was. good, making some very close finishes, which caused keen excitement.
The placings of local swimmers were; M. Chamberlain, third in heat of 33 l-3yds for boys under 14 ; R. Campbell, first in hejat for same race and winner cf final, in 26 3-ss; Miss D. Simmonds first, and Miss A. Barclay third in rac.e for girls under 14 ; Miss T. Simmonds second in heat in 33 1-3 yards for ladies; R. Campbell, fii>t in heat and second in final for boys under 16, 33 l-3yds; D. K. Page, first in heat and winner of final, and Fraser third in heat, in men’s 66 2-3 yards handicap ; F. J. Watson, first in senior neat, header, and M. Butler third.
